Pontianak Fixie Community

Fixie is a new kind of bicycle. It is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving. Fixie also called a fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, sometimes known in the USA as a fixie).

I don't know exactly when fixie become a trend in Indonesia, but in Pontianak, it has become a trend since the last of 2010. Nowadays, many young people in Pontianak have Fixie. They make a community named Pontianak Fixie Community. Every friday evening, they gathers at Numerique Distro (at Johar street), then they are bicycling together (usually known as "gowes bareng"). Their route is Gajah Mada and Ahmad Yani street. Recently, they went to Singkawang, their purpose is to introduce Fixie.
