Honda Development Basket League has been started on 1 April 2011. This competition held in GOR Pangsuma Pontianak. This is the 4th tournament supported by Honda, and for this year, Honda engage Pontianak Post as the official partner. Many Senior High Schools take a part in this competition. This is the biggest basketball competition for students in Indonesia. DBL is a grand event, so it needs great preparation.
Moreover, this year more and more participants joining this big event. The participants are 45 teams consisting of 25 men teams and 20 girl teams. All of the teams come from all over senior high school around West Kalimantan.
Unlike the previous year, this year Honda DBL does not organize yell competition. It has been replaced by dance competition. The participants also from the schools that have taken part in basketball competition.
For senior high school student, joining this competition is a big challenge. They must have enough preparation because all of the teams want to be the winner. It is kind of prestigious award for them. Besides the experience, they also want to get the prize. Last year, the winner had a change to go to Surabaya to join some training with other teams from different region in all over Indonesia. The best player got a change to go to America, watching the real basketball competition of NBA. The participants were not only the player but also the coach. In 2010, 3 participants from West Kalimantan had a change to go there. It were Linda, the captain from SMA Santu Petrus, Rizal, the player from SMA 7, and the coach Hendry Bonardi also from Santu Petrus. We hope this year West Kalimantan's player will show their ability once more.
