All About Pontianak
Pontianak is the capital of the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan. It is a
medium-size industrial city on the island of Borneo. Pontianak occupies
an area of 107.82 km² in the delta
of the Kapuas River.
It is located precisely on the equator,
hence it is widely known as Kota Khatulistiwa (Equator City).

History
The city was formerly the capital of the independent Sultanate of Pontianak and was founded in 1772 around an old trading
station on the Borneo coast. It is built on swampy ground that is subjected to
regular flooding by the river, requiring buildings to be constructed on piles
to keep them off the ground. It has its name due to the story that the founder
had seen an appearance of Kuntilanak ghost at the place to be built for the
palace, which he fought to save the people.
Pontianak Fixie Community
Fixie is a new kind of bicycle. It is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast — the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving. Fixie also called a fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, sometimes known in the USA as a fixie).

Equator Monument
Equator Monument becomes the icon of Pontianak city. It symbolizes that Pontianak is passing by the equator 00 latitude. This monument is located on Khatulistiwa Street, Siantan Village, Pontianak. This
monument was built in 1928 by Astronomical Expedition
Team from Dutch, and in 1938, it was re-built with some improvement by
Opzicter Silaban, an architect. In 1990 this monument had been re-built
for the second time by duplicating it in bigger size. The size was five
times bigger than the original and its purpose to protect the original
statue.
Es Krim Petrus
One reference for your leisure time......
Es Krim Petrus is located in front of SMA Santu Petrus. Actually the name is not Es Krim Santu Petrus, but people prefer to call it es krim Petrus. This is my favorite place to buy ice cream since I moved here.
Some delicious flavors available here. You can try chocolate, strawberry, jack fruit, and sometimes durian.
